Machine retrofits by Machine Tool Solutions Unlimited (MTSU) provide industrial customers essentially new machines—outfitted with state-of-the-art controls—without the prohibitive cost associated with buying a new machine tool.

Machine retrofits replace outdated controls with CNC and NC controls that feature the latest technology in the industry. We’re experienced with newer PC- based control products, which often can be integrated with existing drives, motors and wiring. This option further reduces the cost of machine tool upgrades.

However, before providing a quote for a control-only retrofit, we will recommend conducting a thorough electrical inspection of the machine. This will help us determine whether the machine is appropriate for a control-only retrofit.
Some retrofits require replacement of servo motors and drives to match the machine’s new capabilities. Complete retrofits also may include a new operator’s pendant and magnetic panel.

Other features of a complete retrofit include stripping of all existing wiring and replacement with wire that is sized appropriately for the new controls and integrated to the machine.

The retrofit also will include all necessary mechanical brackets and adaptors. Sealtite, cord grips and other components found in our inspection to be worn out will be replaced. In most cases, the existing motor starter main disconnect and limit switches will be retained, as will pressure and thermal switches.

Each machine retrofit is accompanied by complete documentation of the work completed and parts installed, as well as schematics and operational information.
